The header is an image that appears at the top of all the pages of your store.
It can be anything you like, but usually includes the label name or logo or the name of the shop. Here are a couple of examples:
Creating the right header image
The best size for your header is 500×160 pixels.
Make sure it’s saved in RGB colour spacing in either .jpg or .gif or .png format.
If you need access to Adobe imaging tools, let us know and we can grant you a free licence for a limited period of time, subject to availability.
Once you have a suitable image ready, we recommend saving it as something simple such as ‘greedbagheader’.
How to change the header image
From the store dashboard, find ‘Info and Appearance’.
Once you have your image ready, scroll down to where you can see ‘upload new file’. Click on ‘Choose File.’
Find your image file on your computer, and then press ‘Upload file.’
Once you’ve uploaded your file, it should appear here:
Now, to get this image set as your header, copy the following code into the Custom HTML Header box:
<img src=”<% image(greedbagheader.jpg) %>” />
If you’ve named your image file something different, just change the title in brackets in the code above to the name of your file.
Scroll down and click ‘Save Changes’
See how your new header looks
Scroll to the top of the dashboard and find ‘Shop Site’. This will link you directly to your Greedbag store and you can see the header you’ve just uploaded.
If you’re experiencing problems or the image isn’t displaying, check the following:
- Your image is RGB colour spacing
- Your image is the correct dimensions
- You’ve copied the code above exactly without any empty spaces added
- Your image is either .jpg .gif or .png and the code above reflects this.
Linking your header to another site or page
If you’d like your header to click through to a website, perhaps to the homepage of your store so customers can find their way back to the shop front easily, your code should look like this:
<a href="http://www.where_you_want_the_banner_to_click_through_to_.co.uk/"> <img src="<% image(my_new_store_banner.jpg) %>" alt="your_label_name" title="name_of_where_you_have_linked_through_to_eg_homepage" /> </a>
If you want to move your banner across the page horizontally, use the tag hspace, or vspace for vertical. Just play with the numeric value after the tag….
<img src=”<% image(greedbagbanner.png) %>” alt=”Soft Hearted Scientists” title=”homepage” vspace=”80″ />
