Rob Small – Fear & Loathing (Out now on 3am Recordings)

As 3am Recordings head for the label’s 10th birthday, they bring together one of the key artists on the label – Rob Small, with long-established artists Jamie Anderson & Dudley Strangeways, as well as newcomer and one to watch, Johannes Ortlieb from Cologne, who together bring you ‘Fear & Loathing’.

Kicking off with the Original Mix, Rob Small provides perhaps his deepest cut yet on “Fear & Loathing“, with his trademark drum programming backing a low rumbling bassline, subtle keys & bleeps, along with some interwoven vocal clips. “Fear & Loathing” marks the end of a superb year for Rob, which has seen his TUG Underground label go from strength to strength & his recent remix for Starlight feature in the Deep House Top 100 on Beatport for several weeks. Look out for more from Rob on Artform Records & Younan Music in the forthcoming months.

First up on remix duties we are massively chuffed to have Artfrom Records head-honcho and all-round house & tech don Jamie Anderson onboard; he meeds little introduction, having featured on labels such as Cocoon, Dessous, NRK and far too many to others to mention here. Jamie drops an outstanding percussive deep/tech worlout here, with rolling beats, deep bass and choice drops – quite simply this is house music at its finest.

Back To The Future main-man Dudley Strangeways is an artist who has been on the 3am radar for some time and for his first outing on the label, he fails to disappoint. Reworking the bass-line and adding new key lines, Dudley twists the original into a firecracker of a deep-house outing with tech edges; little wonder that Dudley has been a “Beatport Must Hear” artist twice in the last few months and he has cuts due on Klasse, Midnight Social, Disport and Deep Edition in the coming months.

Cologne based Johannes Ortlieb has been another name in contact with 3am for a good while now, so it is a pleasure to get Johannes onboard; as a fan of darker sounds, here he takes the original vibe and creates a deep, pulsating remix with the percussion totally recreated and the key refrain reworked – a proper “strobelight” track! Look out for “City Groove” from Johannes due on Mycore Records soon, or catch his radio show on Platinum Radio to check him out.

Feat & Loathing is now available from all major online digital retailers, including Beatport, Juno, Amazon and iTunes.
