Gazelle Twin AKA Elizabeth Walling, b.1981, is an artist based in Brighton, UK. She writes, records and produces all her own music, films and edits all her videos, creates her artwork/graphic design/websites, costumes and usually takes her own press shots where physically possible.
Gazelle Twin’s debut, 3-track single ‘Changelings’ was released in November 2010 (SomethingNothing records) to a flurry of critical acclaim. A Metro ‘One to Watch‘, Time Out ‘Track of the Week’, inclusion on the coveted Guardian Film & Music and MySpace Playlists, and an in-depth early interview in respected music bible, The Quietus, to name but a few top music blogs who featured it. It also had consistent air play on BBC 6Music and XFM.
Gazelle Twin’s follow-up, self-released single ‘I Am Shell And I Am Bone’ plus b-side cover of Joy Division’s ‘The Eternal’ May 2011 (Anti-Ghost Moon Ray Records) has had an exclusive video premiere on The Guardian Blog, a 4 Star review in Artrocker Magazine (June), was described as a “feast for the ears” in CLASH Magazine ‘Essential 10’ (June) and won Walling’s debut airplay on Radio 1 (Rob Da Bank), as well as multiple spins on BBC 6Music (Gideon Coe & Tom Robinson), Q Radio, BFBS ‘Album of the week’ and more.

“The Entire City: Inspired by, variously, the stark synthpop of The Knife/Fever Ray, choral madrigals and 1980s Prince at his most spooked, this is an album which hints at subconscious fears and will haunt you long after listening.” The Independent on Sunday 5/5
“A stunning debut” ***** The Guardian
“A feast for the ears” Clash Magazine Essential Ten
“A triumph of pop-art splendour” 8/10 NME Magazine
“(‘The Entire City’ is) an impressive art-rock soundtrack with brooding synths reminiscent of The Knife, dramatic percussion and eerie singing like PH Harvey at her most enigmatic and gothic” Financial Times 4/5
“Setting herself out as one of the year’s brightest breakthrough talents” Artrocker 4/5
“A dream-like tableau evoking Bjork, The Dirty Projectors and Vienna’s Soap & Skin as well as Andersson’s sly gift for otherness. At times it plays like a surrealist nightmare, with teeth in all the wrong places…” The Quietus
